Devonport

Devonport, where Tassie Car Rentals is originally based, is situated at the mouth of the Mersey River in the north-western part of Tassie. Along with the slightly smaller city of Burnie, Devonport is the major regional centre of the north-western part of the state.

The main CBD, on the west side of the Mersey River, includes a pedestrian mall, cinema, and various convenience and chain stores as well as several local restaurants and cafes.

The city also features a few arts galleries, such as The Devonport Regional Gallery.

For train enthusiasts, consider also the railway museum situated at Don, a suburb of Devonport, called the Don River Railway.

Travelling to Devonport is easy thanks to the Spirit of Tasmania that docks there regularly and the city also has a small airport just a 10 minute drive away. Tassie Car Rentals will deliver to Devonport Airport, however!

Launceston

Launceston is a city in the north of Tasmania and the second largest city after Hobart, and interestingly, also the only inland city in the state.

Launceston is a popular destination for car hire and all other travellers alike, offering plenty in the way of shopping facilities, arts and culture whilst still being a fairly relaxing place compared to many large main cities.

Home to a large sports stadium (York Park/University of Tasmania Stadium), the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery (QVMAG) and the Country Club Casino, there's no shortage of things to do and places to go in Launceston. Interestingly enough, York Park and the QVMAG are literally next door to each other in the suburb of Invermay, while the casino is in the suburb of Prospect.

Nearly all of Launceston can be traversed by car quite easily, pending any unusual build ups of traffic and getting from one suburb to another is usually hassle-free.

Consider also the Launceston Gorge, located only a few minutes away from the CBD, for a relaxing and beautiful touch of nature.

Launceston is of course also home to a major airport, located at Western Junction. While Tassie Car Rentals currently does not have an office located at Launceston Airport, we can happily meet and greet you for your car hire needs, offering car delivery for a very small fee.

Hobart

Hobart is the capital and most populous city in Tasmania. Hobart is also Australia's second oldest capital city after Sydney, New South Wales.

Hobart is well known for many points of interest, such as the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, the Wrest Point revolving hotel casino, the Salamanca Market and of course MONA (Museum of Old and New Art), which is the largest private museum in the Southern Hemisphere. The city also has a large music presence for all genres and often hosts various music festivals.

The city also serves as a home to many of the state's sporting teams and has Bellerive Oval as a popular sporting venue for the likes of cricket and Aussie Rules Football.

Hobart is also internationally famous among the yachting community as the finish of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. The Taste of Tasmania is another major part of the event, where locals and visitors can taste fine local and international food and wine. The waterfront of Hobart is filled with yachts and ferries all year round, as well as floating restaurants.

Hobart International Airport is located 20 minutes drive outside the city, serving all major airlines as well as many smaller ones.

Delivery of a rental vehicle from Tassie Car Rentals to Hobart Airport can be arranged by request. Contact Us for more information or send a booking request through the interactive Quote system on the Home page.
