COVID-19 / Coronavirus
Here at Tassie Car Rentals (and Rent-A-Bug Tasmania), we are well aware of the situation with COVID-19 (otherwise known simply as Coronavirus) in our island state of Tasmania, as no doubt most of you are.
We can assure you we are committed to the most rigourous cleaning and sanitization standards, both in regards to our cars provided to customers and in our every day practices of staff, and we can say that any of our vehicles provided to you will be completely safe to be in contact with, so, for those still in a position to hire a car, you can rest assured that we can meet your needs.
With that said, with various border closures that have happened have meant that for many of you, unfortunately a trip to Tassie has probably now become impossible, at least for the short term.
Sadly this will mean cancellations and complete changes of plans for many.
Regarding Booking Deposits and Cancellations
Unlike many companies, we have always had a policy of providing a credit for our standard non-refundable Booking Deposits and Pre-Payments on future rentals in the event of cancellation and re-booking later on.
This hasn't changed, and while there is obvious uncertainty everywhere, we encourage taking advantage of this deal.
In addition, we offer two options in the event of COVID related cancellation:
1. a refund of the deposit, minus $25 cancellation/processing fee (eg. a $100 deposit = $75 refund).
2. a full credit of the deposit towards a future booking with us (same as non COVID cancellations)
Cancellation can happen any time for no penalty.
So what do I do?
If taking the credit option, the next time you wish to book, simply provide us with your original Booking Number (or the receipt number of the transaction if you have lost the Booking Number) and it will be applied as a credit to your next hire.
This is also transferrable to family or friends, if you provide permission to do so.
With an eye to the future, we also believe this provides you with a bit more confidence to book, even with the uncertainty. Booking with us and paying the deposit will not mean a total loss of that deposit, as it can be simply be transferred to your next booking, or refunded minus a small fee, if your travel plans suddenly have to change and be rescheduled.
We are optimistic that with proper care and precaution, this pandemic will be contained and life can hopefully go on as normal. While there is no time frame known yet, we hope that you all will be able to experience beautiful Tasmania as intended, sooner rather than later.
